HOW
DO I...
MAKE
AN APPOINTMENT?
Please telephone or call into the surgery during opening hours. Every effort is
made to see patients when they wish to be seen and we try to be as flexible as
possible. Although you are registered with a particular doctor, you are able to
consult with any doctor of your choice. However, we encourage you to try and see
the same doctor for ongoing problems for continuity of care. Please try to make
return appointments before leaving. You have a right to see a doctor of your choice and we will endeavour to ensure this will be within 7 days.
Appointments are normally 10 minutes
long but if you feel you need a longer appointment, please let the receptionist
know.
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please let the surgery
know so that this much needed appointment can be offered to someone else in need.
Patients
who are abusive to staff or arrive drunk will not be seen and run the risk of
being removed from the list.
Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied
by an adult.

Urgent Appointments And Nurse Triage
Patients
who feel they need to be seen urgently will go through our nurse triage system.
The nurse will assess the problem and will either offer advice, get a prescription
or fit you in with the doctor.
HOW
DO I...
REQUEST
A HOME VISIT?
Ideally, all patients should be seen in the surgery, where we have access
to facilities. Should you need to see a doctor quickly and are able to come to
the surgery, an urgent appointment will be arranged. However, should you be housebound
or too ill to attend the surgery, a home visit may be requested by telephoning
the surgery before 10.00am. The receptionist will need to ask your name, address
and telephone number along with brief details of the problem.
NB: please
ask for a home visit only if it is really necessary. Lack of
transport or looking after other children is not a valid reason.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
TEST RESULTS?
Your doctor may need to
do tests in the form of either bloods or specimens. These are sent away to the
laboratory so please allow one full week for tests to come back. You will be asked
to phone the surgery for your result and this can be done between the hours of
11.00am and 3.00pm except on Thursdays. Please remember that receptionists are
not medically trained and may ask you to make an appointment to see the doctor.
